Motorola has recently showcased its first ‘book-style’ foldable at CES 2026, and this is a major moment for the brand. With this latest entry, Motorola is showing a clear intent of stepping into Samsung’s territory and taking a direct aim at the Galaxy Z Fold series, especially last year’s Fold 7. Naturally, the big question that may come to everyone’s mind is, how does Motorola’s latest foldable phone stack up against Samsung’s tried and tested formula? On paper at least, the competition looks serious. While we haven’t yet gotten a chance to review the Motorola Razr Fold, we decided, why not put both phones side by side for a proper specs and features comparison.

Let’s take a closer look and see which foldable looks stronger where it really matters.
Design and Display
Starting with the build and design, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a slim design, and Samsung has even called it their thinnest Fold yet. It comes with an Armor Aluminium build, and in terms of durability, the Fold 7 features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, along with an IP48 rating. This time around, Samsung removed the support for stylus input. At the front, the Fold 7 features a 6.5-inch AMOLED cover display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. On the inside, there’s an 8-inch AMOLED panel with the same 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

Meanwhile, the Motorola Razr Fold is the company’s first attempt at a book-style foldable, and unlike Samsung, it comes with curved edges. They’re yet to confirm other details regarding the hinge; however, Motorola has said that the device supports the Moto Pen Ultra stylus. As for the display, the Razr Fold comes with a 6.6-inch cover display, along with an 8.1-inch LTPO inner display with a 2K resolution. However, Motorola hasn’t yet confirmed the exact refresh rate for both screens.
Performance & Battery
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite ‘For Galaxy’ variant. This chip is a bit different from the regular ones, as it has been custom-tuned for the Samsung Galaxy devices, and it is overclocked for slightly better performance. Inside, the Fold 7 packs a 4,400mAh battery, with support for 45W fast wired and 15W wireless charging.
Meanwhile, the Motorola Razr Fold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, paired with a 5,200mAh silicon-carbon battery and with support for 90W fast charging
Camera
In terms of cameras, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 comes equipped with a triple camera system at the rear, with a main 200MP shooter, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. For the selfies, the Fold 7 comes with two cameras: a 10MP camera on the cover screen, along with a 10MP camera on the inner display as well.
Meanwhile, Motorola counters it with a triple camera setup too. The Razr Fold features a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Just like the Fold 7, the Razr Fold features two cameras on the front too. It comes with a 32MP camera on the cover screen and a 20MP camera on the inner display.
Price & Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 was launched in the Indian market last year, and it has been available through all major online and offline retailers. It starts at Rs. 1,74,999 for the base 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant, and users can get the device with up to 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage options as well. The phone comes in three main colour options, including Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, and Jetblack, along with a fourth colourway exclusive to the Samsung store.
On the other side, Motorola has just showcased the Razr Fold at CES 2026. There is no official information regarding the Razr Fold’s pricing and availability for now. However, if rumours are to be believed, the Razr Fold could cost about $1,500 in the US. Motorola has confirmed that the device will be available in two colour options, which include Lily White and Blackened Blue. The foldable phone is expected to launch later this year.
