Here’s why the OnePlus 6 seems to be all about speed
HIGHLIGHTS

It would appear that for the OnePlus 6, the company's focus is all on speed and efficiency. OnePlus has taken steps to assure they achieve this goal

OnePlus fans are in for a treat! Pete Lau, Founder and CEO of OnePlus took to the official OnePlus 6 forums to shed more light on the upcoming smartphone, and the thoughts and process behind it. In the post, Lau gives us some confirmations that many had desperately been seeking. There’s a very interesting insight Pete Lau has shared about how the company has gone about designing the OnePlus 6.

In his post on the forum, Lau talks about the importance of speed for OnePlus. However, he goes on to clarify that “Fast is not just about shorter loading times or top download speeds, any OEM can achieve high numbers in one or two metrics. Fast is about creating a lasting impression of speed and smoothness, throughout all-day use, whether you’re recording 4K video or browsing Facebook. Fast is about ensuring there is less than a 1/1000 percent likelihood of your phone freezing, even under constant heavy use. To us, it’s about setting a higher standard.” We get a good look at this ideology reflect in the OnePlus 5T, but with the fourth generation of the OnePlus, the company was focused on imaging. This year, for the OnePlus 6, Pete and Company are focusing purely on ‘Speed.’ This, Pete Lau says, was more than just putting the fastest hardware together.

For the first time, we are told that OnePlus created a special team in their R&D division called Team FSE (Fast, Stable, Efficient). The team was created for the sole purpose of ensuring that the OnePlus 6 as a device offers a fast, stable and efficient user experience. They only focus on making sure that you are not only getting the most out of the OnePlus 6, but in doing so, there are no other problems that crop up. Regardless of how demanding the task, this team’s job is to help create a product that delivers on every account, every single time.

Over the last few years, OnePlus has developed a reputation for making phones that were undoubtedly fast. That was when they didn’t have a team dedicated to making every aspect of the phone “fast.” With the OnePlus 6, the company is putting dedicated resources behind making the fastest phone on the market by not just using the fastest components, but also putting the sharpest minds to work on how to ensure the software once again works seamlessly with the hardware. You can have the best hardware and you can have software that is conceptually incredibly light and resource agnostic, but if the hardware and software aren’t optimized well together, there will always be aspects of the device that falter.

In the last few days, OnePlus has been doing its part to start creating buzz around its next smartphone’s launch. We’ve had posts confirming the notch to be a part of the OnePlus 6 and the fact that it will run on the Snapdragon 845, up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. What we can’t wait to find out is the camera configuration, when it will be available and the price. Hopefully, this dedicated Team FSE won't be the cause of a price hike!
