All you need to know about the Yu Yutopia
HIGHLIGHTS

Taking all of YU's teasers in stock, we take a look at what the much touted YU Yutopia is all about.

Yu Yutopia, the phone which Yu has been teasing for weeks now will be going official, come Monday. On 17th of December the company will release the self-claimed “The Real Beast” of a smartphone. The Yu Yutopia is teased to be the flagship from the company and Yu is already claiming that this will be the “most powerful phone in the world.” In a little over month, the company has released 7 teasers and we have seen various leaks suggesting the performance of this upcoming smartphone. So, we are digging through the heap of rumors and teasers to give you a better picture on the Yu Yutopia. Here is all you need to know about the upcoming Yu Yutopia.

Build
Yu has already teased that the phone will not use material like plastic or sandstone. Yu teased “R.I.P Plastic & Sandstone” followed by “True power lies in Metal”. Yu is taking a dig at the OnePlus 2 and other phones which come with plastic backs. This is a good indication that Yutopia will have a metal build and we are expecting a full unibody. Going by the teased images, the edges of the phone might be chamfered.

Display
What should be the ideal display resolution for a flagship class smartphone? Well, according to Yu “Never settle for 1080p” which could mean that the phone might offer a 2K panel. If this is true, this will be the first phone from an Indian manufacturer to boast a 2K display. From the rumors we have heard till now, the phone could have a 5.2-inch display. This combined with the 2K resolution should put it at par with the Samsung Galaxy S6. However, whether Yu is using an LCD panel or an AMOLED is still under wraps.

Storage
Internal storage is a hassle, more specifically if you are using any phone which has less than 16GB of storage. Yu has taken a quick dig at the iPhone 6s as well. According to this teaser the Yu Yutopia might have a 32GB on-board storage and in true Yu fashion could offer a microSD card. We should also mention that 32GB is not a big deal these days and many smartphone makers offer 32GB storage. Even budget segment phones such as the Acer Liquid Z630s offer 32GB of storage.

QuickCharge support
Smartphones are getting bigger these days, they offer big batteries and charging them takes time if your phone doesn't support quick charging. Recently, the OnePlus 2 didn’t had the QuickCharge technology and that is exactly what Yu has framed this teaser on. The phone will support QuickChrage and if the specs leaked are true, its likely to be QuickCharge 2.0. Yu took a dig at Apple as well, by saying “Would you enjoy an apple that doesn't last long?”.

4GB of RAM
The phone is likely to have 4GB of RAM, unlike many other flagship phones which make do with 3GB of RAM. In the teaser Yu posted, one can clearly see the Galaxy S6 Edge with the quote “3GB RAM for a flagship”?

Apart from these teasers, scores from a Geekbench synthetic benchmarks were also leaked in which the phone “YU YU5050” achieved 1353 in the single core benchmark and 4622 in the multi-core benchmark. This leaked benchmark also suggested that the phone is running on an octa-core 1.5GHz SoC which is supposed to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810.

The rear camera is rumored to be a 13MP shooter with OIS (Optical image stabilization) and laser autofocus. Recently @Motographer shared pictures taken from the Yu Yutopia from Austria. While the images do look amazing as they have a BMW i8 in them, we can't help but wonder how will the camera perform, a question we will try to answer when we review the smartphone. The phone is expected to run on Android Lollipop with Cyanogen’s own custom ROM on top of it.

We would like to mention that all previous Yu phones have been priced very competitively, and if the trend continues, we will finally see a phone which would be able to counter the low price of the OnePlus 2.

As of now here is compiled list of the specs, the Yu Yutopia may feature

SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810
Display: 5.2-inch, 2560 x 1440p resolution
RAM: 4GB (There are rumors of a 3GB variant as well)
Storage: 32GB, microSD card support
Camera: 13MP rear
Full metal build
Big battery with fast charging
