BenQ ZOWIE EC2-CW Review- A performance powerhouse from BenQ

The BenQ ZOWIE EC2-CW has positioned itself as a notable entry in the realm of wireless gaming mice, particularly within the EC lineup. The EC2-CW offers a blend of ergonomic design, commendable build quality, and reliable performance, although its price point has been a source of debate and contention within the community.

ZOWIE EC2-CW Design and Build Quality

The EC2-CW prides itself on an ergonomic design tailored to accommodate a diverse range of hand sizes. Its asymmetrical shape, featuring a convenient thumb groove on the left side and a subtle groove for the pinkie finger, contributes to an intuitive and natural grip. Of course, this is a bit of a bummer if you’re a left-handed mouse user. We found the mouse’s construction robust and sturdy without any signs of creaking or rattling during use, even during intensive gaming sessions.

The positioning of the side buttons is also convenient, and the clicks both feel and sound satisfying. LED indicators displaying the battery status contribute to the functional aspects of the design. Notably, the EC2-CW caters to competitive gamers and esports enthusiasts by adopting a driverless, plug-and-play design. It’s seriously impressive what BenQ ZOWIE has managed to achieve without the need for any software whatsoever. Users have the flexibility to adjust sensor settings directly on the mouse, including adjusting things like DPI steps and surface calibration. The inclusion of an Enhanced Receiver station, which also functions as a charging dock, serves to bolster signal stability, especially in congested wireless environments.

ZOWIE EC2-CW Performance

Sensor Performance

At the heart of the EC2-CW’s performance lies a high-performance sensor. As far as accuracy is concerned, it is one of the most accurate sensors we’ve tested this year. In the competitive landscape of gaming, precise tracking of movements becomes crucial, where every millisecond counts. The EC2-CW aligns itself with this demand, ensuring that users experience minimal deviations between physical movements and on-screen actions.

Click Latency

The EC2-CW also has fantastic click latency. This means the delay between clicks and on-screen actions is very low (aka response time). This proves particularly beneficial in fast-paced gaming scenarios which is usually the norm in competitive titles.

Weight

Weighing approximately 75 grams, the EC2-CW finds itself in the mid-range concerning mouse weight. This places it strategically between the lightweight category, ideal for swift movements, and a more substantial build that provides steady control. However, it’s worth noting that compared to some FPS-focused mice, the EC2-CW tends to lean towards the heavier side. This characteristic could potentially impact the ease of executing quick and accurate movements, a crucial consideration for gamers with specific preferences.

Battery Life

One of the standout features of the EC2-CW is its battery life, boasting up to 70 hours of uninterrupted gaming. This endurance provides a significant advantage for gamers immersing themselves in extended play, eliminating the need for frequent charging interruptions.

ZOWIE EC2-CW Price

At an MRP of Rs 19,990 (Rs 10,990 on Amazon as of writing this review), the EC2-CW certainly offers great performance and build quality, but the price point is definitely on the higher side. Especially when compared to other gaming mice that offer similar (and some cases even better performance) at a more pocket-friendly budget.

ZOWIE EC2-CW Verdict

The BenQ ZOWIE EC2-CW stands as a compelling choice for gamers seeking a wireless mouse that combines ergonomic design, sturdy build quality, and reliable performance. Its plug-and-play convenience, coupled with additional features like the Enhanced Receiver station, enhances its overall appeal. While the price is certainly a point of contention, its discounted price on Amazon of INR 10,990 as of writing this review makes it a great wireless gaming mouse option to pick up.
