HIGHLIGHTS

The Xbox Series X and Series S go on sale in India on November 10.

Here are the games you'll be about to play on Day 1

These include Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Borderlands 3, Devil May Cry 5 and much more.

As the release date for the next generation of consoles draws closer, both Microsoft and Sony are going into overdrive with their marketing. We’ve got a teardown of the PS5 as well as multiple looks at the Xbox Series X/S, making this year one of the most hyped in terms of a new console release. Sure, we’ve got the hardware, controllers etc. but what about the games you’ll be able to play when you actually buy the console? Well, worry not, as we’ve got a sweet list of the best launch day games for the Xbox Series X/S right here.

Do remember that the Xbox Series X/S is backwards compatible with older Xbox titles. How far does the backwards compatibility go with the Xbox Series X/S? Well, we’re glad you asked. If you decide to buy an Xbox Series X/S, know that you will be able to play games released on all Microsoft Xbox console, right from the OG Xbox to the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One. So, if you’ve ever owned any Microsoft console, you’ll be able to play those good old games on an Xbox Series X/S as well. If you discount the games listed below, you’ve already got three generations worth of games for you to dive into. That’s literally thousands of games for you to play without even counting the Series X games below. Remember that a lot of these games will also be available on Game Pass and come with support for Smart Delivery. So, let’s grab our controllers and check out some of the best games you can play during launch day of the Xbox Series X/S! Do note that most of these games will be available on the Xbox One as well but most of them will bring with them enhancements for the next-gen console.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

The hit franchise returns with a journey to the Norse realm in Valhalla. Assassin’s Creed has always been one of the biggest games out there and this aims to be no different. We already got a ton of gameplay and trailers, so we’ll be looking forward to this one.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition

If you’re a hack and slash fan then you’ll know that DmC 5 is essentially the best of the best when it comes to the genre. The graphics are crisp and the combat is crushingly good. If you haven’t played Devil May Cry 5, then you’ll have the perfect opportunity to do so on the Xbox Series X/S.

Gears 5

Another huge franchise that makes its way to the next-gen is Gears 5. Although the game did come out on the Xbox One, the Series X/S will also allow you to journey across a destroyed Earth all while battling killer robots and the Locust.

Watchdogs: Legion

To be honest, Watchdogs: Legion hasn’t really been kicking up any real dust when it comes to the hype but the game does look like a great time with the open-world shenanigans of your character taking centre stage. If you need to wash the taste of Watchdogs 2 out of your mouth, Legion looks to be a good palate cleanser.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

The Yakuza games have been Sony exclusives for a long time, but we’re now getting a bunch of ports to other consoles and Like a Dragon happens to be one of them. If you’re a fan of crazy open-world games from Japan, you’ll love Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Trust us though, you will have to get used to the nuttiness of the game.

Forza Horizon 4

One of the driving simulators out there, Forza Horizon 4 looks to take virtual racing to the next level with incredible graphics and tight controls. If you love driving games, we can’t recommend this game enough.

Borderlands 3

Another game that will be playable on launch will be Borderlands 3. A sequel to the wildly popular FPS, Borderlands 3 has the same quirky art style and irreverent humour that the series is known for. Plus, it has guns. Lots of guns! So, if you’re an FPS nerds, Borderlands 3 is your pick on launch day.
