An independent studio known as Aeos Games located in Bengaluru, India, has released a new gameplay trailer of their new soulslike game titled “Unleash the Avatar.” Unleashed in Bilibili Game First Look, the trailer is the biggest reveal of the game yet. In addition, the trailer shows clearly how Unleash the Avatar is one of the best indie games to have been produced in India in recent times.
SurveyThis trailer starts with the character Vikram fighting Kinkara who happens to be a servant of Yama, the god of death and justice in Hinduism. This game seems to have very deep combat mechanics which include things such as dodge and parry but not only these since there seem to be some fresh ideas added into it. These new ideas include a range attack known as chakra and also a feather prism attack.
This world is created out of Indian Epic mythology. The game is set in an alternate reality where there has been the dissolution of the wall that exists between Naraka (the Hindu mythological hell) and earth; as a result of which, the Asuras and Rakshasas have invaded the world. Vikram, the player character, becomes the avatar of a part of the power of Lord Vishnu and needs to restore balance. This is quite a unique premise, and this game stands apart from other fantasy games that rely heavily on European medieval mythology.

Technically, the developers at Aeos are creating everything from scratch. The game uses a fragmented-chakra engine that works in conjunction with an internally developed physics system, a highly refined AI for enemies that punishes the players based on their posture, and parry mechanics. They are constructing their environments out of photo assets of olden Indian towns, which lends an air of authenticity to their world like no other game based on similar cultural context. Legendary voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch, who was in Persona 4 and Bleach, voices Vikram.
Aeos Games is a 40-person, entirely self-funded studio, and Unleash the Avatar is its debut title. A 2026 launch window is currently targeted for PC via Steam, where the game is available to wishlist now. For a first production title from an independent Indian studio, the ambition on display here is hard to ignore.
