Temple Run 2: What should you play it on?
HIGHLIGHTS

Confused on which device to download Temple Run 2? Well, we play the game on an iPad third-gen, iPod Touch fourth-gen and a budget Android phone, and we let you know our impressions of gameplay on each device.

It is clear that Temple Run 2 is the hottest free game available on Android and iOS today. So are you confused on which platform it runs the best? Well, we tested the game on a bunch of devices and it ran quite smoothly on all of them. In the video below, we run the game on a third generation iPad, fourth generation iPod Touch and a budget Android Phone.

The Temple Run 2 ran smoothly on all the devices but it did take its own sweet time to load on the iPod touch. The mechanics of the game is the same on all the devices but it’s the screen size, which will make all the difference to the gameplay experience.

Temple Run 2 may be a bit inconvenient on the iPad because of its huge display. You’d do better to use both hands when playing the game on a tablet. On both the Android phone and the iPod Touch, the game can be easily played with one hand. You can tilt the device with ease and swiping with your thumb seems natural.

The overall experience of playing the game is great on all the devices, though on a tablet form factor, you have to be ready to use both your hands. Check out our video below, comparing how the game looked and felt across the three devices.

The gameplay of Temple Run 2 is essentially the same as its predecessor. You have stolen the golden idol and must run as far away from the monkey as possible. There are many obstacles that will plague your path and you must swipe and tilt your device to avoid them. The addition of a zip line, twisting paths and a cart are definite improvements. Veteran fans of the franchise will feel right at home and the game is easy to pick up and play for new comers as well. You can read our in-depth review of the game here.

In a mere four days of launch, the game was downloaded over 20 million times. “The response from fans has been overwhelming,” says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios, the developers of the franchise. “We are thrilled players want more of the Temple Run universe, and we hope to grow and expand the game over the coming months. In under one week, Temple Run 2 has accumulated over 210 million sessions, which garners a combined time of over 1,775 years of gameplay.” This is before the game was launched for Android. You can read the details here.

The original Temple Run was downloaded more that 170 million times since its launch.
