To say that players are looking forward to the return of PUBG Mobile in India would be a massive understatement. While other games like Garena Free Fire, and Call of Duty: Mobile have carved their own little niche, it seems like even banning the game didn’t dent PUBG Mobile’s popularity. In fact, it seems like PUBG’s South Korean owners, Krafton Inc. recognise the importance of the Indian market and decided to cut ties with Tencent when it came to the country. The company has established a new subsidiary called PUBG Mobile India Pvt. Ltd. and have also teased the launch of a new version of PUBG Mobile specifically for the Indian market.
However, there is still a lot we do not know about. For starters, we still have no clue when the game will launch or the file size of the game. However, we did try and answer some questions about the game. You can learn more about those here.
Regardless, here are 5 questions that we think should be answered.
PUBG Mobile India is touted to offer a number of features customised for India. Will that make it incompatible for play with the global variant? Considering that the global variant of PUBG Mobile allows users to play with people from all over the world and compare skills, and that sort of has its own appeal. Will PUBG Mobile India work in tandem with the global version of PUBG Mobile? Or will it close off in India inside its own walled-off garden, well, have to wait and see.
PUBG Mobile India is said to offer a virtual simulation training ground, clothed default characters, green hit effects and more. However, it is not yet known if there will be other more significant gameplay changes in PUBG Mobile. This could be anything from different weapon stats to new vehicles. The Chinese version of PUBG Mobile, aka Game for Peace features a bunch of new and different gameplay elements. We need to see if PUBG Mobile India follows in its footsteps and offers something new.
PUBG Mobile is a pretty big name when it comes to esports in India. In fact, the company regularly hosts a number of esports tournaments on a global scale. Will India be represented at these tournaments or will there be separate tournaments in India considering we have our own version of PUBG Mobile? In case India continues to play at these tournaments, will the players play PUBG Mobile India or the global version of PUBG? Considering the fact that a number of India's top PUBG Mobile streamers are a part of the pro gaming scene, this might affect them quite deeply.
With the global version of PUBG Mobile, updates were pretty straightforward. Everyone got the same update at the same time. With PUBG Mobile India, we don’t know if we will get the same update as the rest of the world, let alone when those updates will come. This can lead to a sort of fragmentation within the PUBG Mobile community where one set of players are dealing with a specific set for issues and features, while the other has their own set.
By the time it was banned, PUBG Mobile had its fair share of hackers. While the company did its best to find and root them all out, hackers kept coming back. Which is why it's pretty important that PUBG Mobile India offers a robust system of anti-cheat measures to ensure that cheaters are unable to use hacks in the game and those who do are swiftly banned. Thereby ensures a level and fun playing environment for all.
