Five console games to look out for in April 2012

Five console games to look out for in April 2012

April has just begun and rather than spending your time playing April Fool’s jokes you have decided to invest time playing some awesome videogames. April usually isn’t the best month for games to launch as we have E3 2012 just around the corner where developers show off their latest offerings for the home consoles.

Lately however, gaming has become a round the year event with developers and publishers showing off at least one AAA title each month.

This month, we have shortlisted five games that range from sequels to HD remasters, and even THE motion game that the world has been waiting for. So here’s our list of ‘Five games to watch out for in April 2012’.

1.Kinect Star Wars

If you ever wondered what it would be like to wield the power of “the Force” and fight with a light saber without the use of your game controller, your prayers have finally been answered. Ever since we knew that a Kinect Star Wars game was in development, we have waited patiently to become Jedi Masters.

Now the time has come to don the role of a Jedi master as Kinect Star Wars launches in mid-April 2012 as an Xbox 360 exclusive. The game will be priced at Rs. 2,399.

2.Devil May Cry HD Collection

So, Dante is getting an all-new look in the reimagining of the Devil May Cry franchise. If you are a gamer who belonged to the past console generation then you may be one who is a little unhappy with this. Capcom has paid homage to your prayers and is releasing the HD collection of Devil May Cry in April 2012.

The dual gun-wielding, sword-swinging, and smooth-talking Dante is back on the PS3 and XBOX 360. The HD collection box contains Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition. All the games can be yours for Rs. 2,499 and is expected to hit store shelves in mid April.

3.I Am Alive

I Am Alive has been available on the PC and Xbox 360 for a month now as a downloadable game but it is making its way to the PSN store in April 2012.

The game is a post apocalyptic third person action-adventure game where players will don the role of a survivor in search of his wife and daughter who were lost during the “events” that led to the destruction of the world. Players will be challenged with not only traversing environments and taking on enemies but with stamina and resource management as well.

I am alive will hit the PSN store on April 4th 2012 and gamers can download the game for $15 (Rs. 760 approx.).

4.The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition for Xbox 360

The Witcher 2 has been available on the PC for almost a year now and it’s making its console debut exclusively on the Xbox 360 (sorry PS3 owners!).

Apart from an awesome RPG, the enhanced edition adds a bunch of extras to an already awesome game. Gamers who pick up this edition will get a soundtrack audio CD containing in-game music, a Quest Book for both novice and experienced role-playing fans, a World Map, and a detailed Game Manual. Another incentive to look at the rerelease of this game is the 3 hours of new content, new gameplay and story elements

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition for the Xbox 360 is expected to launch towards the end of April 2012, and will be priced at Rs. 2,499.

5.Prototype 2

The first Prototype launched way back in 2009 had some interesting shape shifting gaming elements but lacked the impacting punch. The game offered a choice mechanic that affected the abilities you unlocked for the lead protagonist.

This time around however, the tables have turned. The focus is on Sgt. James Heller who is on a mission to destroy Prototype’s original anti-hero, Alex Mercer. The sequel will continue the shape-shifting, open-world action gameplay we have come to love from the original.

Prototype 2 is expected to hit store shelves towards the end of April for the PS3 and Xbox 360 for Rs. 2,499. A PC version should also release simultaneously.
