Dream Detective “A picture is worth a thousand words” is a very cute looking hidden object game where you’re required to find objects in the provided setting or scene. While its charming presentation will allure you to actually try it out, it may just be enough to keep you interested in what is basically just a hidden object game.
Dream Detective Gameplay
In terms of gameplay, that’s about all there is to it. If you’re unfamiliar with hidden object games, you have a list of items you need to find which are shown at the very bottom of your screen. You need to find a series of different such objects in somewhat cluttered scenarios. Tapping on the objects at the bottom gives you a hint about where you can find them in the scene above. Each scene has three scaling difficulty levels, starting with beginner, then detective and finally expert. It does actually get pretty hard as you turn up the difficulty, but you only need to find three objects on the list in order to progress. Of course, if you’re looking to 100% a level, then you’ll need to find every object in the list. Completionists, like some of us here in the labs, will have their noses buried in the phone for a while with Dream Detective. Dream Detective also features an underlying story that progresses bit by bit with each new scenery you unlock. Apart from the hidden object game, you will spend about ten percent of your time spending hard-earned currency in fixing the castle – which is somewhat of a city builder game of its own. Your objective here is to just make things look nice and is a decent distraction from the core gameplay.
When you’re stuck in a pickle, you have the option to watch an ad and reveal the location of a hidden object. Speaking of which, there’s a Dream Pass as well, which is weird, we didn’t expect a battle royale like pass system in this kind of game, but it’s there. There’s also an energy system that runs out pretty fast if you’re into the game and gobble up levels. You’re either forced to take a break, or shell out some cash to keep playing.
Dream Detective Verdict
The game’s art style is simply amazing. We personally love it and it might just be one of the best looking games out there for your smartphone. All the drawings are extremely detailed and the cluttered maps only add on to the sheer amount of effort and dedication that went into the art.
Overall though, Dream Detective is definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re into casual puzzle games and hidden object games akin to Where’s Waldo.
