Asus ROG celebrates 20 years: Pro Art PZ14, Zephyrus Duo come to India

Twenty years is a long time. Even more so in the world of gaming. Now back in 2006, gaming laptops were bulky, expensive, and far from becoming mainstream. In India specifically, most PC gamers either built their own desktops or spent countless hours researching compatible components before making a purchase. Esports was still in its infancy, gaming cafés were packed with Counter-Strike players, and few could have predicted that gaming would eventually become one of the country’s fastest-growing entertainment segments. But it did. And along the way, Asus ROG has been a prominent name in it all.

Asus bets bigger on local manufacturing

The company revealed that the share of locally manufactured laptops has increased substantially over the past year. According to Asus, locally produced devices accounted for approximately 10 percent of laptop sales in FY 2024-25. That figure has now risen to between 30 and 35 percent in the current fiscal year.

Asus also confirmed that it has started local production of TUF Gaming laptops in India. The company aims to achieve 20-30 percent local production for its gaming laptop portfolio during FY 2026.

Paramjit Singh, Vice President, Consumer PC and Gaming Business, Asus India, talked at length about the company’s growth strategy during a roundtable discussion held shortly after the event. He also touched upon India’s expanding gaming ecosystem, and the increasing importance of local manufacturing.
