iPhone Air 2: Camera specs, launch timeline, price and everything else we know
iPhone Air 2 is expected to bring a dual rear camera setup, adding improved zoom and depth while retaining the 18MP front camera.
Apple has reportedly delayed the launch, with the iPhone Air 2 now tipped for a possible spring 2027 debut instead of fall 2026.
The upcoming Air model is likely to be priced close to the original iPhone Air, keeping it competitive amid rising smartphone costs.
Apple has introduced its first ever Air iPhone with ultra slim form factor in September 2025. However, despite the excitement around its sleek design, the device did not meet Apple’s sales expectations. Since then, there have been multiple reports speculating about the launch of iPhone Air 2, a successor to the current device. However, some new reports have recently come to light that suggest that Apple may be working on the redesigned version of the Air series. The upcoming model is expected to introduce notable upgrades, including a second rear camera and a more attractive price point.

iPhone Air 2: Camera upgrades (Expected)
One of the biggest changes anticipated in the iPhone Air 2 is the addition of a dual-camera setup on the back. The first-generation iPhone Air comes with a 48MP rear camera, which was already capable of providing shots that are clear and sharp. However, with the addition of a second lens, the company wants to further improve the photography by offering increased zoom and more depth in the shot. In the front, it is expected to retain an 18MP selfie camera, just like that in its predecessor.

iPhone Air 2: Launch timeline
Originally, Apple planned to launch the second-generation iPhone Air during fall 2026. However, a new update has indicated that the tech firm scrapped that plan due to the weaker sales of the first-generation iPhone Air model. This news is expected to affect the firm’s lineup during 2026, with its expected products being the iPhone 18 Pro and its first foldable iPhone.
According to a report from an unknown Apple employee and sources in the supply chain, it was announced that the production of the smartphone, V62, was put on hold last month. It was scheduled for launch along with the iPhone 18 Pro and the first foldable iPhone in autumn 2026.

It is also reported that the trial production is likely to begin again as early as March, headlined by Luxshare in Kunshan, China, with Apple hopeful of a spring 2027 launch. Apple is also reportedly working towards designing eight new iPhone designs, due to be launched in 2026 and 2027.
iPhone Air 2: Price (Expected)
The first-generation iPhone Air was launched at a starting price of Rs 1,19,900, and the second-generation model is expected to be priced along similar lines. This would make it competitively positioned, especially at a time when smartphone prices across the industry are rising due to a global shortage of memory chips.\
