The Samsung Galaxy S26 is expected to debut globally in January 2026. The next-gen lineup will reportedly include three models – Galaxy S26, S26 Pro, and S26 Ultra. However, the “Edge” variant might be axed this year due to low sales from the Galaxy S25 Edge. As expected, all eyes are on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the flagship phone. The handset is rumoured to feature more innovative display technology, upgraded cameras, and significant software enhancements with One UI 8.5.
SurveyHere’s everything that we know about Samsung’s upcoming Ultra flagship.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra specifications
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumoured to feature a new M14 OLED panel, expected to offer better power efficiency and higher peak brightness than the S25 Ultra. The upcoming flagship is also expected to introduce a new Flex Magic Pixel technology powering a customisable ‘Privacy Display’ feature. This will automatically restrict screen visibility from side angles, protecting users from prying eyes.
Additionally, leaks suggest that the 200MP HP2 sensor will be paired with a brighter f/1.4 lens, allowing significantly more light for improved low-light performance. Samsung could also upgrade the 3x optical telephoto lens to a 12MP sensor and give the 5x zoom camera a wider aperture for better detail and brightness.
On the software front, Samsung might also add pro-level video tools, including APV codec support.
Further, the Android 16-based One UI 8.5 update will reportedly debut with the S26 Ultra and bring a major visual and functional overhaul. It will likely come with enhanced lock screen customisation, adaptive clocks, and an expanded suite of Galaxy AI tools like Meeting Assist, Smart Clipboard, and Touch Assistant.
In terms of design, the S26 Ultra will reportedly feature an even rounder frame for improved grip and pocketability. The phone may be slightly larger, 0.6 mm taller and 0.3 mm wider. The S Pen is also rumoured to adopt a rounder edge to match the refined design. Samsung might introduce an iPhone 17 Pro–inspired orange finish alongside its standard colour palette.
