The Sony A95K, winner of our Zero1 Award for Best OLED TV of 2022, is currently the only QD-OLED TV that you can buy in India. In comparison to the white OLED TV panels found on most conventional OLED TVs in 2023, QD-OLED offers higher peak brightness, a wider colour gamut, and higher colour volume, resulting in bright highlights as well as astonishing details in dark scenes in HDR content.

The Sony A95K handles motion blur remarkably well. Another interesting highlight is that the buttons on the remote automatically light up in a dark environment for convenient usage. Additionally, Sony includes a Bravia cam for video calling that can be mounted at the top of the TV. It also comes with Sony’s Acoustic Surface Audio+technology which makes the sound from the 60W audio system appear to come directly from the screen.

The LG G2 comes with LG’s OLED Evo panel, which has an additional heat sink that allows it to achieve higher brightness levels compared to other previous-generation OLED TVs. As of today, this is one of the brightest OLED TVs available in India, since the 2023 models such as LG G3 with MLA OLED are not yet available in the country.

Apart from the impressive OLED contrast, there are many other features to look forward to on this high-end TV. The LG G2 runs on LG’s proprietary WebOS interface, which is compatible with all major smart home ecosystems, including Amazon, Apple, and Google. Additionally, it supports all popular HDR formats, and the 4.2Ch sound system delivers a total output of 60W. With 4 full-bandwidth HDMI ports, HGiG mode, and support for 4K 120Hz Dolby Vision gaming, LG G2 is also a very attractive option for gamers.

LG C2 falls a tad short of LG G2 in terms of peak brightness, but other than that offers a similar experience as its pricier sibling. This is a great TV for watching movies and TV shows as well as for gaming. It is available in a number of sizes ranging from 42 inches to 83 inches, which means you can pick whatever size best suits your needs and budget.

The TV supports popular HDR formats including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ. Unlike the LG G2 which is designed for wall mounting, the C2 also ships with a TV stand for mounting it on a table. If you are looking for a more competitively priced LG OLED, you can also consider the LG A2 series.

Xiaomi’s OLED Vision is now a tad more expensive than it was at its launch, but it’s still a great option if you are looking for value-for-money OLED TVs for watching multimedia content. The high-contrast OLED panel and the metallic body give it a premium finish. Both Dolby Atmos and DTSX audio are supported for an immersive surround sound experience.

Apart from deep blacks and multiple HDR formats (including Dolby Vision IQ), the TV also supports IMAX enhanced, which means you can enjoy an immersive home theatre experience in supported titles like most Marvel Studio movies.

The Xiaomi OLED Vision TV ships with Android 11 TV OS with the redundant Patchwall launcher. The TV has HDMI 2.1 features like ALLM and eARC, but the display refresh rate maxes at 60Hz. So, perhaps this won’t be as appealing for a few hardcore gamers.

Many users prefer mini-LED TVs over OLED for their living rooms. Since these TVs have a backlight instead of self-emissive pixels, they can get a lot brighter than OLED TVs. Samsung’s QN95B Neo QLED 4K Smart TV is a mini LED TV with full-array local dimming that can significantly boost contrast.

It comes with a number of appealing gaming features including support for 144Hz refresh rate and four HDMI 2.1 ports that can be easily accessed via Samsung’s OneConnect box. Samsung uses its own proprietary custom interface that is well-designed and easy to use. Like all Samsung TVs, this one also misses out on Dolby Vision HDR which is a bummer.

Sony X90K is a LED TV with a VA panel and it benefits from Sony’s upscaling, colour and motion-handling expertise. It is worth considering if you are looking for a living room TV for watching multimedia content. The TV comes with Acoustic Multi-Audio technology, meaning the sound appears to emerge directly from the screen.

The TV is available in three sizes – 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch. It runs the Google TV interface and is also compatible with Apple Airplay and Homekit. If you’d rather prefer a Sony TV with an IPS panel that offers wider viewing angles (but lower contrast) than VA panels, you may also consider the lower-tier Sony X80K instead.

If you are particularly looking for a high-end TV with an IPS LCD panel, LG’s QNED 81 series is worth considering. LG’s QNED TVs combine Nanocell technology with Quntum Dot Enhancement Film (QDEF) to achieve a wide colour gamut, but unlike the higher-end QNED TVs, this one doesn’t have a mini LED backlight but includes local dimming support.

The LG QNED 81 TVs are available in three sizes, but the 55-inch makes the most sense. It supports many gaming features like 120Hz refresh rate, HGiG Mode, and HDMI 2.1. It’s also missing Dolby Vision and HDR10+, so in India your HDR experience will mostly be limited to HDR10.

The OnePlus Q2 Pro offers great value for a 65-inch TV. The primary highlights are its 120Hz QLED Panel with a peak brightness of 1200 nits and 70W soundbar mounted at its base for impactful audio. OnePlus further claims 97% DCI-P3 coverage. The native contrast of the panel is slightly on the lower side, but that is contracted reasonably when you turn on local dimming.

Other mainstream features like Dolby Vision and HDMI 2.1 connectivity are also covered. The OnePlus Q2 Pro runs the Google TV interface and also integrates OxygenOS 2.1 in India to curate local content, just as Xiaomi does with its PatchWall launcher.

What is the future of TV technology in 2023?

In 2023, the TV technology market is experiencing a surge of innovation, particularly in the high-end segment. The second-generation QD-OLED panels and MLA OLEDs are gaining popularity due to their superior display quality. Mini LED TVs have also emerged as premium options for living rooms with relatively bright ambient conditions. Although MicroLED TVs are still a few years away from being reasonably priced, QLED TVs have become more accessible than they were last year.

What is the best high-end TV 2023? Which brand is best for smart TV in India? Which smart TV is good for home?

Determining the best TV for your needs is a subjective decision that depends on individual preferences and also on where you plan on installing it. While legacy brands like Samsung, Sony, and LG continue to be prominent in the market, numerous other players such as OnePlus, Xiaomi, TCL, Haier, and others offer great value-for-money options that you can consider.

Will TVs get cheaper in 2023?

Customs duty on parts TV panels was cut to 2.5 per cent in the Union Budget 2023, so TVs are expected to get slightly cheaper this year. To get the best deal, you can also pick from popular last year models. We will now list some of the best options that you can consider.
