What is Temple?

Temple is a small, coin-sized wearable designed to sit on the side of the forehead. It is being developed by Goyal as an experimental device focused on monitoring brain-related data.

Unlike a smartwatch, Temple is not designed to sit on the wrist. The device is placed near the temple and is intended to track cerebral blood flow in real time.

The device is designed to measure factors such as blood circulation, oxygen levels and cognitive load. This could offer users a different way to understand how the brain responds throughout the day.

Goyal has linked Temple to his research into how gravity and posture may affect blood flow to the brain over time.

His hypothesis is that being upright for most of our lives causes gravity to constantly pull blood downwards. He believes this could gradually affect circulation in the brain and may contribute to ageing in certain areas, including the hypothalamus.

Goyal has not yet confirmed the exact pre-order date or the launch price of Temple.
