HIGHLIGHTS

Smart TV 5A will be the new Xiaomi TV in India.

The Xiaomi Smart TV 5A processor is powered by A55 cores.

The TV appears to have slim bezels.

Xiaomi has set the Smart TV 5A launch in India on April 27 at 12 PM. It made this announcement through Twitter, calling it the return of its “A-game”. This new Xiaomi Smart TV would be the successor to last year’s Mi TV 4A Horizon Edition series. The company is dropping the Mi branding from its product names this year. That is evident in the name of its upcoming tablet named as Xiaomi Pad 5. This tab and Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone are also landing in India on the same day.

Here’s how Xiaomi teased the Smart TV 5A:

Xiaomi Smart TV 5A: What we know so far

Besides the teaser image and a dedicated events page, the brand hasn’t disclosed many details about the TV at the moment.

It’s only from the teaser image that we get an idea of what the thing looks like. Although much of it is in the shadows, we see a thick bottom bezel with the Xiaomi logo. The TV seems to have very thin bezels on the other three sides. Xiaomi calls it a “seamless finish”.

We get shots of the TV standing on its feet as well as mounted onto a wall.

Again not particularly revealing, but the company boasts a “truly vivid display” and “powerful, immersive audio” from the Smart TV 5A.

Towards the end of the microsite, it tells us that the TV runs on an unnamed processor with A55 cores and Android TV software-based Patchwall UI.

We hope to learn more about the Xiaomi Smart TV 5A in the days leading up to the launch. So, mark your calendar for April 27 at 12 noon when this TV, the Xiaomi 12 Pro, and the Xiaomi Pad 5 will be launched.

The expected Xiaomi 12 Pro specifications are Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, 120W fast charging, a 50MP triple rear camera setup, and a 2K 120Hz AMOLED display. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Pad 5 could come with a 2.5K 120Hz display, Snapdragon 860 SoC, MIUI 12.5, and an 8720mAh battery.
