Tata Sky Broadband users get up to 6 months extra on annual unlimited plans

Tata Sky Broadband users get up to 6 months extra on annual unlimited plans
HIGHLIGHTS

Tata Sky Broadband is offering extra validity on annual unlimited plans in some Indian cities.

Users in the Jodhpur circle get a full year of validity extra when they pay up for eighteen months.

Earlier this week, we reported that Hathway is offering its 100Mbps broadband plans for a price as low as Rs 699 per month. This, we pointed out, was a ripple effect from Reliance's recent announcement of its upcoming JioFiber broadband service. Reliance has been known to launch Jio connectivity services at extremely competitive prices in the past. In what we believe is yet another such effect, Tata Sky Broadband is now offering up to six months extra on its annual unlimited subscription plans in a few cities across India.

The first thing to note is that Tata Sky Broadband is not offering extra validity in all of its circles. Users in the Hyderabad circle get six months extra with their annual unlimited subscription. Users in the Lucknow circle get five months extra with their annual unlimited subscription, which is not a bad deal either. Users who belong to the Ahmedabad and Surat circles get four months extra when they pay up for nine months, which is quite decent. But the best deal is available to users in the Jodhpur circle, who get a full year's validity for free when they pay up for eighteen months.

Users in the Bengaluru, Chennai, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Pune circles get three months extra with their annual unlimited subscription, which is not a bad deal but not enticing enough. Sadly, users in the Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mira Bhayandar, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Noida, and Thane circles get nothing for free when they pay up for a year of unlimited broadband service. Users in the Bhopal circle get a month extra when they sign up for five months of unlimited broadband service.

With Reliance preparing to roll out its JioFiber service officially on September 5, it appears other ISPs in the country are suddenly on their guard. Hathway is offering its 100Mbps plans at a starting price of Rs 699 in selected circles. When JioFiber goes live, its plans are expected to start at Rs 700 and go all the way up to Rs 10,000. Reliance is expected to offer up to 1TB of data (FUP) every month. The Mukesh Ambani-led company will also offer a fixed-line service as standard and optional over-the-top media services, such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Hotstar.
