HIGHLIGHTS

ZTE announces Axon, a flagship Android smartphone featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 and a dual rear camera setup.

Chinese phone maker ZTE, has announced Axon, its next phone bearing high end specs. The phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC and will be sold unlocked for $449.98 (Rs. 30,000 approx). The phone will serve as a flagship device for the brand in the US competing with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9.

The Axon features an all metal build giving it the premium look and feel. There is a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display on the phone with a QHD resolution. It has 4GB RAM on tap and 32GB of internal storage which is non-expandable. At the back, the phone features a dual-camera setup featuring a 13MP + 2MP camera. This camera setup works similarly to what we saw on the HTC One M8. For the front-facing camera, ZTE has gone with a 8MP sensor.

Like mentioned earlier, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 featuring a 2GHz octa-core CPU. Axon has a 3,000mAh battery which is non-removable and the device will be running on Android 5.1.1 out of the box. Unlike what we have come see in India, the phone seems to be running a clean, more stock version of the Android OS. Moreover, ZTE is also giving 2 year warranty with the Axon. The phone is now available for pre-order at Amazon, Newegg, and eBay in the US. We expect a similar version of the phone coming to India as well in the coming months.
