Xiaomi has officially announced the launch of its Redmi Note smartphone in India. The company has launched 3G and 4G versions of the smartphone price at Rs. 8,999 and Rs. 9,999 respectively. The 3G phone will be available from December 2, while registration begins tomorrow 6pm. The 4G version will be available from mid-December.

Xiaomi has tied up with Flipkart and Airtel for the 4G version of Redmi Note. Customers can buy the phone from Airtel flagship stores (about 100) from 6 cities in India. However, customers need to register online, hosted by Airtel, and can collect the device from Airtel stores.

The Redmi Note 4G version has a 5.5-inch HD display with 720p resolution, 267ppi pixel density and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone runs MIUI based on Android. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928, along with 2 GB of RAM.

The Redmi Note has 13MP rear camera and 5MP front facing cameras. The smartphone supports 64GB SD card slot. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports single-SIM, FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 LE  + BT3.0HS, WLAN802.11b/g/n and GPS+AGPS. The smartphone is powered by a 3100 mAh battery.

The 3G version of the Redmi Note has similar specs except it has 1.7 GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core SoC, dual-SIM connectivity, 3G network support and 32GB microSD support. Also, the Redmi Note 3G ships with Android 4.2 out of the box, while the 4G variant has Android 4.4 KitKat – though both on MiUI 5.
