A flurry of leaks on Chinese social networking website Weibo has fueled speculation that a successor to the Xiaomi Mi Mix may be launched soon. On Thursday November 17 2016, images of the device which is being called the Xiaomi Mi Mix Nano were leaked online. This was followed by a series of posts by a tipster on the networking site who claimed that the phone will have 90 percent screen-to-body ratio with a 5.5-inch screen. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor the device will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The tipster added that the new smartphone will be priced at CNY 3,000 (approximately Rs. 30,000). The tipster also shared an image of the alleged Mi MIX Nano smartphone which revealed that the processor on the device will be clocked at 2.53 GHz.

Xiaomi on the other hand has so far not announced the launch or development of a successor to the Mi Mix and with the veracity of the tipster unconfirmed the leaks cannot be trusted completely.

Launched on October 25, the Xiaomi Mi Mix is equipped with a Full HD display with a screen to body ratio of 91.3%. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC comes in two variants, the first variant features 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and is priced at CNY 2499 (approximately Rs. 34,500) while the other variant called the Mi Mix Pro has 6GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage and is priced at CNY 3999 (Approximately Rs. 39,400). Encased in a ceramic body the device is equipped with a 16MP primary camera with PDAF and a 4400mAh battery.

At the launch event, Xiaomi announced that the Mi Mix will not be for sale in India. However India being the world’s second largest mobile market it can reasonably be hoped that the company might bring its successor to the country.
