Vivo X21 up for pre-booking ahead of May 29 India launch
HIGHLIGHTS

The Vivo X21 can be pre-booked by paying an advance of Rs 2,000. Those who pre-book the device will get to avail some special offers as well.

The upcoming Vivo X21 smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner will be launched on May 29 in India, but the company has already commenced pre-bookings for the device. One can head over to the company’s official online store and pre-book the device by paying an advance amount of Rs 2,000. It seems like Vivo is trying to figure out how many units to keep handy so that there is no outrage from customers about the handset going out of stock in minutes; like the Redmi Note 5 Pro or the Asus Max Pro M1.

On the pre-booking page, Vivo has not disclosed the X21’s India pricing, however, the 6GB RAM/128GB storage option and the Black colour variant of the device are listed. When one pays the pre-booking amount, they will receive a same value coupon code via email, which is to be applied while purchasing the device on May 29, along with what the balance amount.

There are also special pre-booking offers for those who book the device in advance, for instance a 5 percent cashback for those who buy the device using an SBI credit card. Customers will also get to buy the X21 with no-cost EMI for up to 12 months and receive a gift voucher worth Rs 1,000 from Ferns N Petals. Vodafone customers will also get to avail an additional 280GB data with the smartphone, along with free one-year Red shield Device Security Solution for Postpaid Red customers on Rs 499 and above plans.

In terms of specifications, the Vivo X21 is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC and features 6GB RAM, coupled with 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded further up to 256GB using a microSD card. In China, the device is priced at CNY 3,598 (Rs 37,100 approx), but it is expected to be priced around the same or perhaps slightly lower in order to compete with recently launched OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 smartphones.

The X21 features a 6.28-inch full-HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It sports a notch on top of the display, which the company says is smaller than the one on the iPhone X. The dual-SIM smartphone runs on FunTouch OS 4.0, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Customers of the smartphone will also be able to experience the latest Android P public beta as it was announced for the device at the Google I/O 2018 developer conference.

In terms of optics, the X21 is equipped with a vertically stacked dual-rear camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 5MP secondary sensor with a f/2.4 aperture and an LED flash. On the front, it features a 12MP facing sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and comes with 3D mapping, IR fill light, and 'Face Wake' face recognition feature. The device supports LTE, comes with dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 and is powered by a 3200mAh battery.
