Blogs claim Android Ice Cream Sandwich powered Vertu handset could be launched this month.
Vertu, the “premium” phone maker, formerly owned by Nokia, could be launching its first Android device this month. Japanese site Blog of Mobile, has posted images (seen below) of a phone that is most likely the Android powered Vertu Ti. The site also claims that the Ti will be powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and a 1,250mAh battery, will wield a display with 800×480 pixels resolution and will run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The blog Android Authority speculates that the Vertu Ti will priced at around 3,000 Euros (Rs. 2,17,000 approx.).
Vertu is known for manufacturing very, very expensive handsets with middling hardware. However, rather than the specs, Vertu tends to focus on build and craftsmanship using materials like diamonds, gold, pearls, zirconium et. al. when building phones. Vertu was sold off by Nokia in October 2012, but the Finnish company still retains a 10% share.
FYI: The most expensive phone manufactured by Vertu is the Signature Cobra that is priced at £213,000 (Rs. 1.77 crores approx.). The phone sports two diamonds, two emeralds, 439 rubies, a tiny colour screen and a 950mAh battery. So, you know, totally worth buying.
