Samsung’s green line display issue appears to be making a comeback. The issue was first noticed on Samsung flagship devices way back in 2023 and has been affecting users ever since. Many customers have reported green lines appearing on their screens. Now, new reports say the problem has returned after the latest One UI 8.5 update. According to users, some Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S21 FE devices have been affected. Samsung has not yet released an official statement on the new complaints. Meanwhile, affected customers are waiting to see if the company will once again offer a free display replacement programme, as it has done in certain cases before.
SurveyThe latest complaints surfaced on X, where user Afeef shared a video showing a green vertical line running across the display of his Samsung Galaxy S23. According to the user, the problem appeared after updating the phone to the latest One UI 8.5 software version.

He was not the only user to report the issue. Another X user, Abhash Kumar Bhoi, posted that his Samsung Galaxy S21 FE developed a similar display problem after the update. In his post, he wrote, ‘Updated my Samsung S21 FE and got rewarded with a green line on the display. Thanks, Samsung.’

Although the number of affected devices remains unclear, the complaints have attracted attention online as users connect the issue to the recent software update. Some users have also questioned whether Samsung will acknowledge the problem and provide support for affected customers.
The green line issue is not new for Samsung. Over the past few years, users of several Galaxy smartphones have reported seeing permanent green or pink lines appear on their displays. In some regions, Samsung previously offered free screen replacements for eligible devices affected by the issue, even when the warranty had expired.
Experts and repair technicians have often linked the problem to display hardware rather than software alone. In some cases, a software update may increase heat generation or trigger changes that expose an existing weakness in the display panel or its connectors.
