Samsung Galaxy Note 7’s display could cost you upwards of Rs 18,000 to replace
HIGHLIGHTS

According to Samsung, the hefty price includes the cost of a screen, a digitiser, repair cost and shipping cost.

If you are looking to pick up Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy Note 7, then make sure you don’t end up dropping it and breaking the display. As per what PhoneArena learnt from Samsung’s support team, it can cost upwards of $270 (Rs. 18,107) to replace the display, which is the first to sport the shatter-proof Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

However, this amount is what Samsung’s US customers will have to shell out, and the prices will vary in different countries. This means that in India, the cost of replacing the Note 7’s display could be higher.

According to Samsung, the hefty price includes the cost of a screen, a digitiser, repair cost and shipping cost. The company claims that this will restore the full functionality of the display, along with its water-resistance feature.

When it comes to premium smartphones, the costs for repairing broken displays is usually very high. If you think Samsung has priced their replacement displays too high, know that it costs even more to replace an iPhone’s display. It can cost anywhere between Rs. 20,000 – Rs. 25,000 to repair a shattered iPhone 6s display. Moreover, Apple usually replaces the entire phone, giving you a refurbished unit in exchange for a broken device.

We have contacted Samsung India to reconfirm the cost of the Note 7's display in India, and will update the same once we hear back from them.
