Samsung postpones Galaxy Fold china launch event to an indefinite date.

Reportedly, the event got postponed due to issues with launch venue.

The US launch will likely take place on previously set April 26.

Samsung has postponed the launch event of the Galaxy Fold foldable smartphone in China, a media report has said. According to technology news platform sohu.com, the event has been postponed due to some issues with the venue. The report does not talk about the launch event in the US, and it seems that the US launch will go ahead as planned, that is, on April 26.

Not only the launch event, the company has reportedly cancelled two other local activities pertaining to the device. The news comes on the heels of incidences where reviewers in the US have confirmed that the inner display on their Galaxy Fold malfunctioned. Samsung later issued a statement saying that it would thoroughly inspect these units in person to determine the cause of the matter.

“Separately, a few reviewers reported having removed the top layer of the display causing damage to the screen. The main display on the Galaxy Fold features a top protective layer, which is part of the display structure designed to protect the screen from unintended scratches. Removing the protective layer or adding adhesives to the main display may cause damage. We will ensure this information is clearly delivered to our customers,” the company said.

According to SamMobile, there is a possibility that Samsung may not want to repeat what happened in the US. The South Korean giant may be looking to spread more awareness about the importance of the film that is being shipped on the display of the phone. At least four reviewers, including The Verge’s Dieter Bohn, Steve Kovach of CNBC, YouTuber MKBHD and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, confirmed that the inner display on their unit broke or malfunctioned.

The Galaxy Fold is priced at $1,980 (approx Rs 1.37 lakh), and comes with a HD+ Super AMOLED panel with an 840×1960 pixel resolution. The smaller display on the Samsung Galaxy Fold is 4.6 inches in size, and when unfolded, the device turns into a 7.3-inch tablet with a ‘Dynamic AMOLED display’ that has a resolution of 1536 x 2152 pixels. The handset runs on a “7nm processor,” which is most likely the Samsung Exynos 9820, and comes with 12GB RAM with 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The handset houses a 4380mAh battery.
