Ringing Bells not shutting shop, claims to have delivered 70,000 units

Ringing Bells says it will continue to function, and more deliveries will be carried out by retailers.

Ringing Bells has denied reports that it is shutting shop. The company called earlier reports claiming that the makers of the $4 smartphone, the Freedom 251, have shut shop, calling them false. Further, in a statement to the media, a Ringing Bells spokesperson said that the MDM Electronics Private Limited is a separate entity from Ringing Bells. About the fact that Ringing Bells' website is down, the company says it is currently revamping the website's look, and it'll be back up soon.

The company’s statement comes after various media reports, saying that it had shut shop, and its CEO had resigned. Claryfing the resignation of Ms. Dharna Goel, CEO, Ringing Bells, the statement says, “Now Mr. Anmol Goel, who is also one of the founder directors, is looking after the affairs of the company, and will take forward the company to make it achieve the goals that it has set for itself.”

The statement also says that Ringing Bells has delivered around 70,000 units of the Freedom 251 so far. The company says it has delivered units in West Bengal, Haryana, Himachal, Bihar, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, Punjab, J&K, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.  Ringing Bells says that further deliveries are doing to be made by retailers, who will get the products from distributors, who in turn get it from Ringing Bells itself. It also clarified that sales are on cash-on-delivery basis only.
