Revealed HTC Nexus Sailfish benchmarks confirms 1080p screen, Snapdragon 820
HIGHLIGHTS

Device to be the smaller of the two Nexus devices, to sport 4GB RAM with 32GB storage

Every year, when the time for Nexus devices to hit the market draws closer, the internet gets a boatload of rumors about specs, designs, and brands chosen for the devices. This year is no different, with rumors and leaks almost having confirmed that the devices will be courtesy HTC and have been codenamed Marlin and Sailfish. A brand new leak via a GFXBench benchmark has confirmed the purported specs of the smaller Sailfish variant.

To begin with, the leak confirms one of the interesting features of this device, namely a 5-inch screen with a 1080p display. This makes it one of the smaller devices in the current market and if rumors are to be believed, the Marlin variant sports the larger 5.5” screen, making it the bigger Nexus this year.

On the chipset front, the news is not a surprise. The device is supposed to feature a Snapdragon 820 clocked at 2.1GHz, in line with its use in a number of the top end Android phones this year. The other specs that have been revealed are 4GB of RAM with 32GB of storage on the memory front, a 12MP rear shooter, and an 8MP front camera along with a 2,770mAh battery. We can expect the operating system to be Android Nougat out of the box.

Previous reports have also shown that the device will feature a rear fingerprint sensor that will also allow you to pull down the notification shade. The USB-C port will be located at the bottom of the phone beside the bottom firing speakers. In comparison, the Marlin variant is reported to have a 5.5” screen with a 2540 x 1440 screen and a 3450mAh battery with other specs identical. Looks like it’s going to boil down to which size you prefer. Keep in mind that all of these are rumors and leaks, so do hold onto your money until official confirmations for the Nexus devices arrive really soon, as we are expecting a release by September end.
