Pixel demand overwhelms Google causing shipment delays: Report
HIGHLIGHTS

Google has admitted that pre-orders for the Pixel phones have “exceeded” their expectations

Looks like Google is facing a supply crunch for the newly launched Pixel, Pixel XL smartphones. The two flagships went up for pre-order on October 13 and finally started shipping yesterday. Now, reports suggest that the Pixel, Pixel XL shipments could get a little delayed as the Mountain View tech company might be running short on inventory.

As per 9to5Google, those who pre-ordered the Pixel and Pixel XL through the Google Store in US are still awaiting deliveries of the devices. In a statement to the site, Google noted, “We’re thrilled to see the excitement for our new Pixel phones, and frankly pre-order demand has exceeded our expectations. We’re working to restock our inventory as soon as possible.” Some who ordered the smartphones from Flipkart in India have also not received their phones yet. Remember, the Pixel and Pixel XL are Flipkart exclusive devices online, the phones are also available offline through Reliance Digital, Croma, Vijay Sales, EZone, Hotspot, Bajaj Electronics and more, with India prices starting at Rs. 57,000.

The smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoCs, and house 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The two phones will each be available in 32GB and 128GB storage variants. The smaller Google Pixel houses a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, while the larger Pixel houses a 5.5-inch, 2K resolution AMOLED display.
