Opera Mini 5 beta comes to Android

Opera Mini 5, possibly the best version of Opera Mini till now is now finally available for Android phones. Today, Opera Software has released a beta version of their light yet powerful Opera Mini 5 mobile browser for Android phones.

Since Opera Mini is a Java application it is perhaps best suited for the Java based Android OS. The Android version of Mini will bring all the amazing new features introduced in the 5th version, such as tabbed browsing, a password manager, download manager, a speed dial with thumbnails, and Opera Link to keep your Opera browsers in sync.

Of course, Opera Turbo is also present — especially since this is the Mini version — and is sure to provide a much better browsing experience than the default Android browser. Opera Mobile, Mini’s much more capable counterpart, has also been available for Android for a little while, however only through with the headset manufacturers blessing.

With this added platform, Opera Mini 5 beta is now available for Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android, and most Java capable phones. It has already been demonstrated running on the iPhone, and appears to run well, the only possible hurdle now is the App Store approval process.
