OnePlus has started rolling out the Oxygen OS 4.1.7 update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. The update provides several improvements over the last one, such as battery optimisations, enhanced system fluidity, along with the updated Android security patch for August 2017. This OS update is being rolled out in phases and users can expect an OTA update soon.

The update fixes some high priority bugs such as an app lock issue caused by some third party apps. This bug allowed users to bypass the native OnePlus app lock by using some third party apps locks. Also, according to the OnePlus blog, hangouts will be uninstalled if users did not updated it on their device from the Play Store. In order to keep Hangouts, users need to update the app before performing the OS upgrade.

The update also brings in some bug fixes which were formerly reported. The bugs fixed involved users experiencing sound channel errors while recording videos, calls being routed to the speaker accidentally by some third party apps and rendering issues in the Kannada language.

Carl Pei, OnePlus Co-Founder tweeted confirming that the Oxygen OS 4.1.7 update for the OnePlus 3, 3T does indeed bring with it touch latency improvements.

The admin posting the update on the OnePlus blog thanked the OnePlus members in the community for providing the necessary feedback. It is assuring that OnePlus has acted swiftly by releasing this patch as the app lock issue was a security vulnerability.

OnePlus confirmed that the open beta program for both smartphones, the OnePlus 3 and 3T will end once they are updated to Android 8 and yes, OnePlus has confirmed that Android Oreo will be the last major OS update for OnePlus 3 and 3T.
