OnePlus One gets alpha build of Lollipop-based custom ROM

HIGHLIGHTS

OnePlus One custom ROM by OnePlus is based on Android 5.0 and is available for download now.

After Cyanogen curtailed its support to OnePlus One smartphone in India due to its exclusive deal with Micromax, OnePlus had confirmed that it is working on its own ROM based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Well, OnePlus has now officially announced the release of alpha build of their home brewed ROM for its OnePlus One smartphones.

As expected, the early build contains no extra features, and is very similar to the AOSP stock Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM. OnePlus says that the AOSP stock ROM will work as a base for their custom ROM, and it will continue to evolve it.  If rumours are to believed, the custom ROM from OnePlus will remain very close to the stock Android 5.0 ROM.

OnePlus had recently organised a contest in which its community members were asked to suggest name for the ROM. The company claims it has received more than 75K+ names and will reveal the official name on January 11th.

OnePlus has also pointed out that there are a few issues with the current build (since this is just an alpha build). The zip file containing the ROM is 230MB and is available for download on the source link given below.
