The smartphone will be launched on May 17 in India and those who purchase the smartphone will be able to flash and experience the latest Android P public beta on the device.

The OnePlus 6 will launch globally on May 16 and the next day in India. The smartphone is expected to launch running on Android 8.1 Oreo with a new version of OxygenOS, however, customers will also get to experience the latest public beta of Android P operating system as well. At the Google I/O 2018 developer conference, the search giant announced that for the first time, the latest Android P public beta will be available for devices other than the Pixel phones and the list includes the yet to be launched OnePlus 6. The company has also announced the same on their OnePlus forum

"By empowering and trusting in our community we learned users want a fast, smooth, and clean user experience – something we call ‘burden-less’," said Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus. "Beyond building the best possible Android phone, we work to provide more value to users by ensuring the smartphone experience is not dominated by bloatware and intrusive notifications. The creation of Team FSE (fast, smooth, efficient) helps create a recurring theme across all user reviews of OnePlus phone experiences as fast and smooth.”

The OnePlus 6 is confirmed to feature a notch on top of the display as the company says its the next best step for providing more screen real estate to the users. The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and is expected to be launched in a 6GB RAM variant with 64GB internal storage and 8GB RAM models with options of 128GB and 256GB internal storage options.

The company is hosting an event where the device will be launched and recently sold the tickets for it too. OnePlus says that the tickets for the event were sold out under four minutes. Those attending the event will get some goodies from the company like a OnePlus Tote bag, baseball cap, a OnePlus Marvel Avengers limited edition Shirt, and more. Amazon Prime subscribers will also get early access to the sale, ahead of time, at 12 PM on May 21.

The company will also be hosting special pop-events around the globe including eight cities in India. The events in India will be held in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. During these events, customers will be able to experience and purchase the smartphone. The event will take place between 3:30 PM and 8MP on May 21, and between 11 AM and 7MP on May 22.

The Actor Amitabh Bachchan may have also accidentally revealed the Black and White colour variants of the OnePlus 6. The actor tweeted out some pictures of him with the OnePlus CEO Pete Lau holding what appears to be the upcoming OnePlus 6. He later took down the posts and replaced it with a selfie he took with Lau, which is presumably taken with the OnePlus 6. However, a cached version of the page can still be viewed here.
