Nokia launches Music Unlimited, a free music service for feature phones

Nokia has launched its free music service, Nokia Music Unlimited, which will be available in the newly launched Nokia phones – X2-02, Asha 200 and Asha 300. The company says its new music service will allow users to download and share free music from its Nokia Music Store.

Nokia Music Unlimited was so far available on select music-phones, and higher-end devices. Nokia says that it has received positive response from consumers and is hence introducing its music service for its latest affordable range of phones.

Nokia’s DRM free music comes packed with features such as: DRM-free tracks; pre-activation (on the device); easy browsing, downloading & renewal through the device itself, among others.

Launching the new music service, D Shivakumar, Managing Director, Nokia India, said, “Nokia has been synonymous with digital music in this country. We have pioneered many initiatives in this space starting with pre-installed music, launch of music albums on mobile phones and then Nokia Music Unlimited for our hi-end phones. The offering of Nokia Music Service on feature phones underscores our commitment to truly democratise music by taking it to the masses.”

Nokia Music Unlimited Service includes local and global music with an abundance of legal tracks from a range of artistes including international hits and local content. Nokia Music Store includes extensive catalogues from major global labels like Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music and Nokia’s local partnership with Indian Music Industry (a consortium of more than 150 music companies), Hungama that represents major labels including Yash Raj, Tseries, and SIMCA (South Indian Music Companies Association), amongst others.
