The Sailfish OS 2.0 comes with support for Intel architecture, stronger and personalisation feaures.
Jolla has announced its next generation OS – Sailfish version 2.0, which comes with a slew of new features and improvements. The Finnish company also announced Sailfish OS is now ready for licencing to OEMs and other partners. It further revealed Jolla working with Intel to support the Intel Atom x3 processor platform on Sailfish OS.
Main elements of the next gen Sailfish OS are :
Even stronger technical OS core and improved Android application compatibility
Support for Intel architecture, including the Intel Atom x3 processor
Best multitasking on the market for both smartphones and tablets
Improved user experience with an enhanced, even richer user interface
Strong privacy and personalization features
Many new UI/UX features, like enhanced notifications and events views, and even simpler swipe access to main functions
‘Sailfish 2.0’ is designed to provide premium visibility in the UI for leading digital content providers and to enable OS level integration for mobile commerce
Jolla has also sought regional internet leaders especially from Russia, India, China and Japan, which the company deems as "large enough markets and have strong interest to build their independent mobile ecosystems"

Jolla recently announced closure of a Series B funding round after a successful crowdfunding campaign for an open source tablet running Sailfish OS. After the B round, the company has so far raised 34 million Euro financing.
The Finnish company has also announced ‘Sailfish Secure’, an open and secure mobile phone platform.
The Sailfish Secure project is based on the premise that currently there are no European alternatives for secure mobile communication to Android or other US based operating systems. Jolla hopes this will help deliver an an alternative solution to Android.
