Motorola sends media invites for Moto X4 India launch on November 13

The Moto X4 is the company’s first smartphone which comes integrated with Amazon’s Alexa assistant. The device sports a dual camera setup and is IP68 certified water and dust resistant.

Motorola has sent out media invites for its event on November 13 and will launch the Moto X4 smartphone at the event. The device had been announced overseas earlier, and is headed to India now. It should be a mid-ranged device, and will be one of the first to sport the Snapdragon 630 chipset. 

The smartphone was unveiled in IFA 2017 in Berlin, and comes in both Android Nougat and Android One variant. It’s not known which Android flavour the device will launch within India. The Moto X4 was launched in Europe in black and blue colours at a price of €399 (Rs 30,000 approx, directly converted). A previous report suggested that it may be launched in India at a price of Rs 23,999.

The Moto X4 is a mid-range smartphone which sports a unibody metal casing fused with a glass back. The Moto X4 boasts of a 5.2-inch Full HD display and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 platform. It was announced with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, however previous reports suggest that the Indian variant is expected to launch with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage instead. 

The Moto X4 features a 12MP+8MP dual rear camera setup. The primary 12MP sensor sports f/2.0 aperture and supports phase detection autofocus, while the secondary 8MP sensor uses a wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone comes with a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and a dedicated LED flash. The Moto X4 sports a front-mounted fingerprint sensor and is powered by a 3000mAh battery.

In terms of connectivity, the Moto X4 comes with Wi-Fi, USB Type-C, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack and GPS. It measures 148.35×73.4×7.99mm and weighs 163 grams. It comes with IP68 certification and is dust and water resistant. The smartphone comes in Black and Blue colours and comes with integrated support for Amazon’s smart assistant Alexa.

The smartphone was first set to debut on October 3 in India, but the company postponed its launch without stating any reason. Some reports indicated that the launch was delayed globally due to some manufacturing issues.
