Motorola announces Moto X Play and Moto X Style in international launches, to sell from August

While Motorola launched the latest 3rd gen Moto G here in India, the company announced two new variants of the Moto X internationally. The two phones announced earlier today have been named Moto X Play and Moto X Style. While the Moto X Play looks like a budget version of the present Moto X, the Moto X Style seems like an upgraded version to Motorola’s Nexus 6. Both phones will be available internationally later this year. Motorola has also stated that Moto X Style will be sold "unlocked" in the US, as Moto X Play.

Moto X Play
This will be the most affordable Moto X till date, featuring downgraded components and lower build quality than the current gen Moto X, as per specifications. The Moto X Play is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. This octa-core SoC is currently featured in Xiaomi Mi 4i and Yu Yureka Plus. The phone gets 2GB of RAM, and will be available in two storage options — 16GB and 32GB. Support for microSD card of upto 128GB is also available. The display is a 5.5-inch with 1080p resolution. It is an IPS panel display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

There is a 21MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The phone is running an almost stock version of Android Lollipop v5.1.1. There is a 3630mAh non-removable battery, and also supports optional dual nano-SIMs with 4G connectivity. Moto X Play has a water repellent nano-coating making it IP52 certified. It is priced at $299 (Rs. 19,200 approx.), and will be sold across 60 countries beginning from August.

Moto X Style
This new variant of Moto X is being seen as the real successor to the current Moto X. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, the same chipset featured in LG G4. There is a 5.7-inch 2560×1440 pixels QHD display. Motorola has equipped Moto X Style with front-facing stereo speakers. The phone will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants, all having 3GB of RAM.

The 21MP rear camera is the same as Nexus 6, but Motorola claims that according to DxO rating, the camera on the Moto X Style features among the top three in the world. Motorola has also given microSD expansion support upto 128GB, and LTE connectivity. The 3000mAh battery on the Moto X Style supports Turbocharging, and Motorola claims that 15 minutes of charge will give you 34% battery charge. The phone will be sold internationally this September onwards, and will be priced at $399 (Rs. 26,600 approx.)
