Moto G2, X+1 could launch in India on September 5!
HIGHLIGHTS

The company is hosting events in New Delhi and Chicago on that date.

The next iteration of the Moto G and Moto X seem to be coming to India in about two weeks. Motorola has just issued an invite to the press for an event on September 5. This could mean that the company is ready to launch its much awaited Moto G2 and Moto X+1 smartphones. The invite doesn't say much, except that Motorola is hosting the event in New Delhi. The company had earlier hosted the global launch for one of its top selling smartphones, the Moto E, in India. The launch event for the new phones would also mean that India would be amongst the first markets to get the devices. The speculation is further strengthened by the fact that Flipkart has put up a banner on its website that says the last stock of the 16 GB Moto G is now up for sale. The event also coincides with another global event that the company is hosting in Chicago at the same date.

The Moto G2 is the upgraded version of the company's best selling smartphone till date, the Moto G. According to rumours, the Moto G2 will be a small upgrade to the earlier version, with a 2 MP front camera and 8 MP rear camera. The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad core processor along with 1 GB of RAM. It will have dual-SIM and 4G LTE support as well.

Further, rumours and speculations about the Moto X+1 suggest a 5.2 inch 1080p display along with a Snapdragon 800 SoC clocked at 2.5 GHz. It will have 2GB of RAM like its predecessor and will probably even follow the X8 architecture for the SoC.

Both the devices are expected to be running the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS out of the box, along with confirmed updates to Google's next Android L OS. While the Moto G2 should be priced around the Rs. 15,000 mark, the Moto X+1 should come at around Rs. 25,000. Also, considering that Flipkart put up the 'last' stock of the Moto G, this could mean that the device has reached the end of its lifecycle.

None of the above has been confirmed by the company though and it seems that Motorola is intent on keeping things in the dark till September 5. The company is also expected to launch the Moto 360 smartwatch, which runs on the Android Wear OS, on September 5.
