A new Lollipop update is now available for the A99 Micromax Canvas Express via OTA.
Micromax has announced that it will update its Canvas smartphones to Android 5.0 Lollipop, making Micromax one of the few companies to update its existing lineups to Android L. The company has announced that the update is being rolled out via OTA for the A99 Canvas Express only and the updates for other Canvas phones may soon follow.
The Micromax A99 Canvas Express, which was launched just a couple of months ago, is powered by a Mediatek processor. This also makes the A99 Canvas Express the first MediaTek powered phone to get Android 5.0 Lollipop. The phone was launched with Flipkart exclusively but is now available across multiple ecommerce websites around the Rs. 6,350 price mark.
We reached out to Micromax regarding which other phones from the Canvas series will be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Micromax assured us that as of now only the A99 Canvas Express is getting an Android 5.0 update and other Canvas phones may soon follow. Currently there are about 16 phones in the Canvas series which are running on Android 4.4 Kitkat.
