Micromax Bharat 5 budget smartphone to launch in India on December 1, will compete with Redmi 5A

Micromax has sent out an email teasing the Bharat 5 smartphone. It is expected to be unveiled in India on December 1. The device might come with a dual-camera setup.

After launching the Bharat 1, Bharat 2, Bharat 3 and Bharat 4, Micromax has sent out a teaser for the next smartphone in the line-up, sequentially called the Bharat 5. The smartphone will launch on December 1 at an event in Delhi.

Information circulating the internet suggests that the Micromax Bharat 5 will feature a dual 5MP camera setup at the back. The megapixel count of the front facing camera is not known. No other specifications of the smartphone are known yet, but it is speculated that the device will be priced between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000. The teaser sent to us shows a cup with a lightening icon on it and a tagline that reads, “Low Battery?”. We speculate the smartphone will sport a large battery or some battery saving software features.

Speaking of battery life, Xiaomi announced the budget Redmi 5A smartphone in India today. The smartphone boasts of an 8-day standby battery life. All the Redmi 5A units sold in India will be made in India. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A is priced at Rs 5,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB storage variant, but Xiaomi is offering a discount of Rs 1,000 on the smartphone for their first 5 Million customers. This brings down the price of the 2GB RAM variant of the phone to Rs 4,999. The 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant of the Redmi 5A is priced at Rs 6,999. 

The Redmi 5A sports a Metallic finish. It features a 5-inch HD display with a 1280 x 720p resolution with "reading mode" that Xiaomi says automatically controls blue light emission levels. A 3000mAh battery powers the entire package. Coming to the processor, it has a Quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset. You can read more about the Redmi 5A here.
