OnePlus 2 will sport a metal frame, suggest leaked photos
HIGHLIGHTS

Photos of the upcoming OnePlus 2 have been leaked from multiple sources, showing a metal frame on the next flagship device.

About a month ahead of the launch of the OnePlus 2, a number of leaked images have surfaced on the Internet, giving a glimpse at how the new device might look. After the success of the OnePlus One, there has been much hype surrounding OnePlus 2. OnePlus itself has given bits and scraps of information regarding its specifications, although nothing has been revealed about its appearance.

Of the two sources that leaked the images, KJuma – a user on Chinese social media network Weibo – has uploaded a filtered photograph of a device, claiming it to be the new OnePlus 2. While it looks similar to OnePlus One, it is shown sporting a metal frame. KJuma has also claimed that the OnePlus 2 will come with a 5.5 or 5.7 inch screen, wider speaker grilles and a matte black finish. These details, however, are not visible in the image.

The other leak has two clearer images uploaded by PhoneArena. Here, too, the phone looks quite like the OnePlus One, although it sports a wood finish panel on the back. There is also a vertical bar that extends below from the camera, which is said to house a fingerprint scanner. Major changes to the smartphone’s appearance, however, is not to be expected.

OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus Cardboard virtual reality headset, along with announcing the date for OnePlus 2’s launch. It is expected that OnePlus 2 will become the first cell phone to be launched in virtual reality, although pricing and availability of the OnePlus Cardboard are yet to be revealed. Prices for the upcoming smartphone are expected to be higher than the OnePlus One, although there is widespread expectation that the OnePlus 2 will become the first ‘affordable’ smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC under its hood.
