Leaked benchmark reveals OnePlus 2 runs on Snapdragon 810

HIGHLIGHTS

OnePlus 2's leaked benchmark scores reveal it runs on on Qualcomm Snapdragon 810.

While we hear fantastical rumors everyday about upcoming smartphones and devices, the rumor that OnePlus 2 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 could be indeed true. Leaked images of the OnePlus 2 (with the moniker OnePlus One A2001)'s Geekbench benchmark reveal that it's powered by the MSM8994 SoC. Going by the model number it is clear that this is the Snapdragon 810. However, the CPU seems to be capped in the benchmark to 1.55GHz whereas a Snapdragon 810 can go upto 2.5Ghz.

Going by scores visible on the Geekbench website, the capped Snapdragon 810 on the A2001 performs almost at par with the Samsung Galaxy S6. While the A2001 scores 1256 and 4093 in single core and multi-core tests respectively, the Samsung Galaxy S6 scores 1250 and 4100 in the same tests respectively. The leaked image also reveals that the upcoming phone is still rocking 3GB of RAM which seems like a letdown since people were expecting the upcoming device to take advantage of the 64-bit architecture and offer 4GB of RAM.

Another noticeable element is that the device runs on Android 5.1. However, it is still not confirmed whether it will feature Cyanogen OS or OnePlus’s own Oxygen OS. Other rumored features like fingerprint scanner, a higher MP count camera and 2K display are still rumors for the time being. However, we do believe OnePlus will price the upcoming device very competitively to crown itself a ‘flagship killer’ again.

OnePlus has already revealed that it's planning to come out with its new flagship smartphone in Q3 of this year. The company is also gearing up to launch a more affordable smartphone later this year. This phone is rumored to be a lighter version of the existing OnePlus One smartphone. The company has seen good sales in India. In just four months it has already lifted the invitation system model in India and both variants of its OnePlus One are available directly without an invite.
