Lava to launch Xolo X500 for Rs. 8,999, based on Intel Atom Z2420 chip

Lava is launching its second smartphone in India that will be powered by an Intel Atom processor and will be priced at Rs. 8,999.

According to reports Lava will soon be launching another smartphone in India that will be powered by the Intel Atom processor. The Intel Atom Lexington Z2420 chip, showcased at CES 2013, will power the Xolo X500. The Xolo X500 is expected to be priced at Rs. 8,999 when it hits markets shortly.

The Lava Xolo X500 will be a dual-SIM phone and will run on Android 4.0 ICS. In terms of other specifications, it will have a 3.5-inch display with a 480×320 pixel resolution. The processor will be clocked at 1.2GHz and will come with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology. It will have 512MB of RAM and will have 4GB built-in storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. It also houses a 1,500mAh battery. It also houses a 5MP rear camera.

At CES 2013, Intel announced that the ‘Lexington’ Atom Z2420 processor with Intel Hyper-Threading technology (one core, two threads) clocks in at 1.2GHz, is capable of 1080p HD hardware-accelerated encoding/decoding, and supports up to two cameras delivering advanced imaging capabilities, including burst mode that allows people to capture seven pictures in less than a second in 5MP quality. The platform also includes the Intel XMM 6265 HSPA modem that offers dual-SIM/dual-standby capability for cost-conscious consumers. You can read the details of Intel’s announcements at CES here.

We have also seen the Lava Xolo A700 launch in India. It boasts of dual-SIM capabilities (3G 2G), has a 5MP primary camera and a 0.3 secondary camera for video chatting. The smartphone has a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 960×540 pixel resolution, and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. The Xolo A700 has 4GB of built-in storage that is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. The device runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and is powered by a 1700 mAh battery.
