Latest word joining the OnePlus rumour timeline suggests a full metal build for upcoming flagship smartphone

After a slew of rumours all over the internet and OnePlus itself announcing a number of features, the latest rumour ahead of OnePlus 2’s already extensive rumour list is that the upcoming flagship smartphone will feature a full metal build.

A leaked render image of the OnePlus 2 has been uploaded by a user on Chinese social media site Weibo, showing a full metal back on the OnePlus 2. OnePlus has stated that OnePlus 2 will feature a metal build, although no one can be sure if this will be the design of the phone. The back also features two bands (possibly to aid network and radio reception), the OnePlus logo and the main camera with dual-flash. The image also shows the volume rocker to the right of the phone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top.

Contrary to a previous image leaked by PhoneArena, there is no fingerprint scanner on the back. OnePlus has confirmed that its new flagship smartphone will feature a fingerprint scanner that is faster and more accurate than Apple’s Touch ID. If this is the actual design of the phone, OnePlus 2 will have the fingerprint reader on the front.

The OnePlus 2 is scheduled for launch on July 27, in a virtual reality event. OnePlus has already revealed that the new phone will feature an 'improved' Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC, a USB Type-C port, and will also run Oxygen OS on top of Android Lollipop v5.1. It has also been rumoured to feature Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 5.5-inch LTPS LCD running at 1080×1920 pixels resolution.

While there hasn’t been any specific word regarding its pricing, it is believed that OnePlus 2 will be priced above $322 (approx. Rs. 20,430).
