JailbreakMe 3.0 released for iOS 4.3.3 devices including iPad 2

Months after the launch of iPad 2, the jailbreak for iOS 4.3.3 is finally here. The new version of the jailbreak, JailBreakMe 3.0, is a browser based jailbreak and also supports iPad 1, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd and 4th gen.

To jailbreak your iOS device, all you need to do is go to www.jailbreakme.com via the Safari browser in your iOS-powered devices. The URL directs you to a page from where you can download the Cydia app. Click on the free download and install just as you would do for any app from the app store.

Soon after the app is downloaded, you will be required to choose a mode – user, hacker or developer. Tick on the desired field and that’s it, your device has been jailbroken.

The jailbreak was made possible by comex, Grant Paul (chpwn), Jay Freeman (saurik), MuscleNerd, and many others. The iPhone Dev Team posted following on their blog:

“@comex developed what is now the third installment (and his second) of jailbreakme.com, the easiest way to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad (including the iPad2!). No computer is necessary for jbme3.0…just browse to http://www.jailbreakme.com on your device and install it from there!

While @comex and others have wo`rked hard to make this as simple as possible, some people may have questions and problems may arise.”

After the jailbreak, sights are now set on Apple. It will be really interesting to see how Apple reacts to the jailbreak release and what efforts Apple makes to counter the loophole. Jailbreaking is certainly nice to have as an option for your iPad 2 but the question is will users be interested in jailbreaking when Apple’s iOS 5 is just around the corner.
