The iPhone 6s and the 6s Plus, Apple’s latest flagship smartphones have seen a price drop. The iPhone 6s 16GB variant, which was launched at Rs. 62,000 is now available between Rs. 52,000 and Rs 55,000 at retail outlets. It looks like Apple cut the price of the new iPhones to cope with the lackluster sales of its flagship smartphone in India. This is the first time that Apple has dropped the price of its flagship smartphone within two months of launch. Apple imported almost 3,20,000 iPhones in October in India. Shipments have plummeted since then, and latest data suggests that imports of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus fell 62% to 120,000 in November.
Every major online retailer has some offer or the other that reduces the price of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in India. As of writing this article, the iPhone 6s is priced on Flipkart at Rs. 46,999 for the 16GB variant, Rs. 62,599 for the 64GB variant and Rs. 74,899 for the 128GB variant. The Flipkart app has an exchange offer for the 16GB and 64GB variant of the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 6s Plus is priced at Rs. 61,999 for the 16GB variant, Rs. 77,899 for the 64GB variant and the 128GB is listed as coming soon for Rs. 85,999 on Flipkart.
Moving over to Amazon India, the iPhone 6s is priced at Rs. 47,999 for the 16GB variant, Rs. 61,000 for the 64GB variant and Rs. 71,999 for the 128GB variant. The iPhone 6s Plus is priced at Rs. 61,999 for the 16GB variant, Rs. 73,999 for the 64GB variant and the 128GB is listed for Rs. 92,000 on Amazon India.
With the price drop, the new iPhones have become an attractive proposition. Recently, Apple also cut the price of the iPhone 5S in India and despite the price drop we don’t think the smartphone is a worthy investment.
What do you think? Are the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus a worthy investment after the price drop?
