iPhone 6 Plus users will have to wait till March to replace batteries in US: Report
HIGHLIGHTS

Batteries for the iPhone 6 Plus is in short supply after an unexpected increase in demand since Apple announced a discount to replace batteries of older iPhones.

Even though Apple promised to replace old iPhone batteries for Rs 2,000 in India, it is going to be a long wait to get your hands on one. Owners of the iPhone 6 Plus that was slowed down by Apple will have to wait till March to get the batteries replaced as the batteries are in short supply right now. The batteries are expected to be in stock by early April.

The announcement to give a discount for battery replacement has created an unexpected increase in demand. Earlier, Apple had said the batteries will be available late January but soon said that the replacement will be done “right away”.

Now, per a report by MacRumours, an internal document distributed to Apple stores and authorised service centers has stated the estimated wait times. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s Plus battery replacement  will take at least two weeks while the iPhone 6 Plus batteries will be available by late March to early April date. Batteries for the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone SE will be “available without extended delays.”

However, MacRumours reported the wait times are for the US only and the estimates could be different for India.

Apple has promised no-diagnostic battery replacement for older iPhones in India after it admitted to slowing down iPhones to compensate for battery degradation. That means Apple service center agents will not have to pass your old iPhone through its own diagnostic checks to be eligible for the battery replacement.
