Intel Haswell CPU line-up leaks online; Core i7-4770K to be the flagship

Keeping up with the tick-tock cadence of Intel processor releases, the next platform refresh is slated for next year. Its fourth-generation of Core processor lineup popularly known as Haswell line of CPUs, has leaked online according to an article in VR-Zone. There are around 14 processors in the first wave of which six are standard-power and eight are low-power SKUs. Intel Core i7-4770K is supposed to be the flagship processor of the Haswell lineup. This line-up will require a new socket – LGA 1150 with boards sporting the Lynx Point (Z87,H87,Q87) chipset.

The Intel Core i7-4770K is a quad-core, eight-thread processor which is clocked at 3.5GHz with a boost clock of 3.9GHz with an 8MB L3 cache memory. The Intel HD graphics have been updated from the HD4000 to HD4600 which is clocked differently across the different SKUs. With the flagship i7-4770K, the HD 4600 offers a 1250MHz dynamic frequency.

All the Core i7 chips are quad-core, eight-thread ones whereas all Core i5 chips are quad-core and sporting four threads. There was no detail on the Core i3 chips. The TDP range for the low-power SKUs is between 35W and 65W, whereas the standard power SKUs go upto 84W.

Haswell chips will be based on the 22nm architecture that was introduced with the Ivy Bridge processors. Haswell will have an updated microarchitecture keeping in line with the ‘tock’ of the tick-tock cadence where tick represents a shrinking of manufacturing process. The Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics is expected to bring about a two-fold rise is graphics performance, as was demonstrated at Intel Developer Forum in September this year.
