HIGHLIGHTS

Leaks suggest that Marlin will be a 5.5-inch device, and will be powered by a Qualcomm SoC.

Latest rumours have suggested that HTC is making two new Nexus smartphones for 2016. A few days back, we saw some leaked specifications of the HTC "Sailfish", and now, Android Police has reported new leaks of a second Nexus smartphone from HTC. The latest leaks suggest that this Nexus smartphone is codenamed “Marlin”, and going by the leaked specifications, will be a bigger phone than the previously leaked HTC “Sailfish”. It is likely to be a replacement of the Huawei Nexus 6P. The website has put up a disclaimer, stating that the reported specifications are possibly about 90 percent accurate, and may be subject to eventual change.

According to the leaks, the HTC “Marlin” will feature a 5.5-inch QHD display, offering 2560×1440-pixel screen resolution. It is suggested to be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. The phone will have 4GB of RAM, and might be offered in 32GB and 128GB storage variants. The site reports that this year, there will be no 64GB variant. On the camera front, the device is expected to house 12MP rear and 8MP front cameras. The smartphone will also feature a 3450mAh battery, a USB-C port, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a Bluetooth v4.2.

The HTC “Sailfish”, which was leaked a few days back, is rumoured to be a smaller smartphone and will feature a 5-inch display. It is also expected to have a 2GHz Qualcomm quad-core SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 2770mAh battery. Both phones are most likely to run on Android Nougat, and are expected to be announced later this year at the annual Nexus launch event.
