HTC U11 ‘squeezing’ teaser video released ahead of May 16 launch

HTC is expectd to launch its new flagship on May 16 and the device might be called HTC U 11. In its latest teaser video, we can see a glimpse of teh device from one of the edges, but the rest of the video is about squeezing stuff. The teaser emphasis upon how squeezing is a more natural way of interaction. This is could be an allusion to the rumoured ‘Edge Sense’ feature, which will reportedly allow users to control various functions of the phone by simply squeezing or swiping along the edge of the phone.

The Edge Sense is may be integrated into HTC’s Sense 9 UI, which is based on Android 7.1 Nougat. The HTC U 11 is said to have a dedicated sensor embedded into the edge of the phone to detect touches or squeezes. Rumours suggest that the smartphone, which was previously codenamed ‘Ocean’, is likely to merge the older HTC (One) lineup with the new ‘U’ lineup.

Talking about short glimpse we get  in this teaser, it is seems like the device will not have an all metal unibody design. Instead, the phone might come with a glass back, just like the LG G6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8.

As for the hardware, the HTC U 11 is tipped feature a 5.5-inch WQHD display and may be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC with 4GB of RAM. The phone may offer 64GB or 128GB of storage. On the camera front, the device is expecetd to offer a 12MP rear camera and a 16MP front camera.
