HTC One X9 – Is this the new flagship from HTC?
HIGHLIGHTS

A leaked flyer of the HTC One X9 surfaces, hints at a next generation SoC, 4GB of RAM, and minimum 64GB storage.

An alleged flyer of an upcoming HTC phone has just surfaced. According to the leaked flyer, the new HTC smartphone will be called the HTC One X9. If it materialises, it will not be the first phone from HTC under the X banner. In 2012, HTC's flagship phone was named the HTC One X, which was a success. The new HTC One X9, which is yet to be announced, has little resemblance to the old model, except the three navigation keys which are not on screen.

Rumours surrounding the phone suggest that the HTC One X9 will be powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, or MediaTek Helio X20. These two upcoming SoCs have been part of many rumoured phones over the past few months, and appear once again here as well. The HTC One X9 is rumored to get 4GB of RAM, and storage options beginning from 64GB, going up to 128GB.

The build of the phone is still under speculation, but the rumours suggest that the phone might have a 5-inch QHD display. It might also get a 23MP rear camera, and a front-facing Ultrapixel camera. From the leaked flyer, it is evident that the phone can feature dual speaker audio output. While the flyer does mention Dolby Audio, speculations also suggest HTC to power it with the Boom Sound audio engine. The tagline of the HTC One X9 reads, “Packed with city smarts”, but it is not completely clear yet, on what it really means.

HTC has been rumoured to be developing a new flagship-class device, and previous rumours suggested that the company might drop the “M” moniker for its upcoming phone. It was earlier suggested that HTC is making a 6-inch device named “O2”, without the “One” branding.

It should be mentioned that HTC recently announced the HTC One A9 smartphone, which is yet to launch in India. The phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC, and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It features a 5-inch 1080p display, and a 13MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

While HTC does make good-looking and well-built phones, recent performances in the market has not helped it consolidate its industry status. Recent phones like the HTC One M9 or the M9 Plus haven't been able to turn things around for the Taiwanese phone maker. If this upcoming phone does feature updated specifications and reliable build quality, the HTC One X9 can be a phone to look forward to.
